We’re pleased to introduce new features and capabilities to the CarbonOne Platform. These updates will bring enhanced capabilities to measure Carbon Emissions across your entire enterprise including a more structured organization setup, robust target-setting capabilities, enhanced location management, and an improved company-level dashboard for better carbon footprint tracking and management across your enterprise. The following features outline the new functionalities available in this release.
1. Advanced Organizational Structure Management
- Simple Organization Setup: Release 2 includes a straightforward process for setting up an organization and its subsidiaries within the platform, designed to accommodate different levels of organizational complexity. It better allows the organization's structure to evolve, with the flexibility to appoint new parent companies or completely modify the hierarchy.
- Simplified Organization Switch: Easily simulate organizational transitions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestments, by enabling or disabling parent organizations and their linked subsidiaries.
- Organizational Boundaries: Companies now have the option to choose a specific approach for consolidating GHG emissions. This choice defines which business activities and operations are considered in the organization's carbon footprint calculations. The chosen approach is applied consistently to ensure accurate and reliable reporting. Users can choose from the following categories:
a) Equity
b) Financial
c)Operational. - Comprehensive Reporting Details: Users can now enter precise reporting details, including:
a)Baseline Year: The starting point for carbon calculations and target setting (2015 onwards)
b)Recalculation Threshold: Allows for customizable divestment/acquisition thresholds, making adjustments based on yearly organizational changes.
2. Locations Management
- New Locations Module: Locations within the CarbonOne platform are premises responsible for emission sources. Users can now easily add different types of locations to an organization or subsidiary, such as:
a) Processing Facility
b) Warehouse
c) Office Building
d) Retail Store
e) Distribution Center
f) Farm, Barn/Hatchery, and Mills - Energy and Fuel Tracking: Now includes dedicated sections to capture energy and fuel usage data. Users can now enter monthly or yearly data.
- Waste Treatment Details: Effectively track and manage your waste-related Scope 3 data with this new dedicated module.
- Data Import/Export Templates: Save time by uploading bulk data for specific years and locations using downloadable templates.
3. Science-Based and Custom Targets
- Target Setting Options: Users can now set Science-Based Targets (SBTs) and custom targets that align with international best practices and company priorities. Key functionalities include:
a) Custom Target Names
b) SME Eligibility: Users can indicate eligibility per SBT criteria.
c) Target Selection: Select Near-Term, Net-Zero or custom targets, depending on the organization’s emissions goals.
d) Target Coverage and Setting Method: Customizable fields to specify the extent of target coverage and the approach used for setting targets. - Automated Baseline and Target Years setting
- Target Progress Visualization: Ability to visually track year-over-year (YOY) progress on targets.
- Multiple Target Management: Support for multiple targets within the base parent organization allows for comprehensive, layered emissions goals. The dashboard includes target names for easier selection, and the target progress graph overlays onto the primary YOY emissions graph.
4. New Dashboard Design
- Enhanced Dashboard Visuals: In addition to the Product-level Dashboard, there is now a company-level dashboard for detailed emissions tracking at the company level. Key visuals include:
a) Year-Over-Year Emissions Change: Displays annual emission changes across all reporting years, providing a historical overview of emissions trends.b) Emissions by Scope: Offers breakdowns by emissions scope, enabling more granular emissions analysis.
c) Emissions by Location: Location and source-based emissions data to pinpoint hotspots across the organization’s operations.
d) Emissions by Source: Source-specific emissions breakdowns, allow users to identify major emission sources across the organization. (i.e nat gas, electricity)
e) Carbon Equivalencies: After calculating your total emissions, we provide helpful comparisons to everyday activities to make it easier to understand the impact.
